UMasipala waseThekwini ubeke ukunikwa amandla kwezomnotho phambili ngesikhathi kugujwa iNyanga Yentsha kanye noSuku lwe-Afrika, lapho abafundi abangaphezu kuka-500 bebebuthene khona. Kulo mcimbi kwethulwe izinhlelo zokuxhasa ngemali, ukuqeqesha, kanye nokweseka amabhizinisi ngenhloso yokwakha isizukulwane sosomabhizinisi abasha nabadali bemisebenzi bakusasa.

Uhlelo, olubanjelwe eDurban City Hall namuhla, mhla ziyi-11 kuJuni, lugqamise izinhlelo zokuthuthukisa intsha ezihlanganisa ukwesekwa okuhlelekile kwezamabhizinisi, usizo lwezemfundo, kanye namathuba okuxhaswa ngemali ahloselwe ukukhulisa ukubamba iqhaza kwentsha emnothweni.

Ekhuluma enkulumweni esemqoka, iMeya yeTheku, uKhansela Cyril Xaba, ithe lo mgubho awugcini nje ngokukhumbula umlando kodwa futhi uyindlela yokutshala imali ekuthuthukiseni intsha.

“Namuhla, njengoba sihlangene kuleli Hholo Lomkhandlu elinomlando, sihlonipha umoya ophilayo wentsha yethu futhi sigubha amandla aqhubekayo obuwena bethu base-Afrika. INyanga Yentsha isikhumbuza ngesibindi nokuzidela kwabantu abasha ababamba iqhaza ekwakheni intando yeningi yethu, kanti uSuku lwe-Afrika lusibizela ebunyeni, ekuziqhenyeni nasekuthuthukeni ngokubambisana ezwenikazi lethu. NjengoMasipala waseThekwini, sizibophezele ekunikezeni intsha amandla ukuze ibe ngabaholi bokusungula izinto ezintsha, ubuholi, kanye nentuthuko ebandakanya wonke umuntu,” kusho iMeya uXaba.

USihlalo weKomidi Lezokuphatha Nezabasebenzi, uKhansela Nkosenhle Madlala, uchaze izinhlelo ezibalulekile zokunika amandla intsha eziqhutshwa nguMasipala.

“Ukuthuthukiswa kwezomnotho kuseyindawo esemqoka esigxile kuyo. Uhlelo lwethu lwe-Back-to-School kanye neSikhwama Sosizo Sabafundi (Student Relief Fund) kuzoqhubeka nangonyaka wezimali ozayo ukuze kusekelwe abafundi abaswele,” kusho yena.

Uphinde wagqamisa uhlelo lweYouth Month Business Challenge lukaMasipala, olweseka osomabhizinisi abasha abanamabhizinisi asebenze isikhathi esingaphezu konyaka.

Lolu hlelo lunikeza ukwesekwa okuhlelekile, lapho osomabhizinisi abathathu abahamba phambili bethola izinsiza zebhizinisi ezibiza cishe u-R70 000 ngokuhlanganyela, kanti abanye ababambiqhaza abangu-17 babelana ngezinsiza zebhizinisi ezibiza cishe u-R170 000.

Abafundi baphinde bathola ithuba lokuxoxisana ngqo nobuholi beDolobha, babelana ngemibono yabo nezifiso zabo mayelana nokuthuthukiswa kwentsha.

Ezinye zeziphakamiso ezivelele zihlanganise ukuthuthukiswa kokutholakala kwe-Wi-Fi yamahhala, ukwandiswa kwamathuba emisebenzi, kanye nokusetshenziswa kangcono kwesikhathi sesikole ukuze kuthuthukiswe ukukhiqiza nokuzithuthukisa kwabafundi.

Omunye wabahlanganyeli, umfundi kaMatikuletsheni uNokwanda Nxumalo wase-Umqhawe High School eNanda, uthe lolu hlelo lumkhuthazile futhi luhambisana nezifiso zakhe zesikhathi esizayo.

“Lolu hlelo lube wusizo olukhulu kimi njengoba ngifisa ukuba ngumfundisi kwezobuCiko (Arts lecturer),” kusho yena.

Umcimbi uphethe ngokunikezwa kwabafundi abahlanu ama-iPad ngemuva kokubamba iqhaza emncintiswaneni wokuxoxisana neMeya ngezinto ezisemqoka ekuthuthukisweni kwentsha.

UMasipala uthe lolu hlelo luyingxenye yokuzibophezela kwawo okubanzi ekuqiniseni ukubandakanywa kwentsha, ukuthuthukisa imiphumela yezemfundo, kanye nokwandisa ukubamba iqhaza kwezomnotho kulo lonke iTheku.

Kusukela kwiStudent Relief Fund kuya kwiBusiness Challenge kanye nohlelo lweBack-to-School, Ihhovisi Lentsha leDolobha liyaqhubeka nokudala amathuba aphakamisa futhi anike amandla abantu abasha kulo lonke iTheku.
